health

In Brazil, healthcare is a right for all. The Unified Health System (SUS) provides free services to those living in the country, ensuring access to consultations, exams, medications, and emergency services.

One of the most important pillars is the vaccination program, which protects adults and children against diseases like measles, yellow fever, COVID-19, and influenza. Vaccines are free and can be received at health clinics, helping to prevent epidemics and maintain public health.

Even without complete documents, everyone is entitled to basic healthcare, including medical consultations and emergencies. With the SUS Card, it is easier to access regular healthcare services and continue receiving care over time.

Taking care of your health is essential when starting over. That's why we are providing information to help you understand how SUS can contribute to your adjustment in Brazil.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW?

WHAT IS SUS?

The Unified Health System (SUS) is one of the largest public health systems in the world.

Created to ensure that all people living in Brazil have access to quality healthcare services, free of charge and without discrimination, regardless of nationality or financial status, it is considered one of the greatest achievements of the Brazilian people.

The system focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment of health issues, ensuring that everyone has access to comprehensive and humanized care.

UNIVERSAL ACCESS TO HEALTH!

Everyone residing in Brazil, including immigrants and refugees, has the right to use SUS services. To access these services, you do not need to present a specific document to be treated; simply identify yourself at the healthcare unit.

The Importance of Vaccination

Getting vaccinated is one of the most important steps to ensure individual and collective health, especially when arriving in a new country.

In Brazil, vaccines are rigorously tested and approved by international health organizations and the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA).

Furthermore, access to vaccines is free and easily accessible! Through health posts, you can receive guidance from professionals about the vaccination and immunization process right away.

Check the step-by-step guide on how to get vaccinated

1

Check the Vaccination Calendar

Check the National Vaccination Calendar from the Ministry of Health, which can be accessed at health posts and online, on the Ministry’s website or through the Meu SUS app, available on the App Store and Google Play. The calendar is divided into groups, such as children, adolescents, adults, the elderly, and priority groups, and it also provides updates on seasonal vaccination campaigns.

2

Go to the nearest health center

You can check online through the city hall website or the local healthcare system, or by calling the municipality's service center.

Another way to find information about health posts is through the mapping we’ve provided here on the website. You can access it by clicking the button below:

3

Pay attention to the necessary documents!

Identification document (ID)

Bring a photo ID (ID card, driver's license, passport) to register the service.

SUS Card

Having the SUS Card makes the process easier, but the vaccine will not be denied if you don’t have the card. In some locations, you can get the SUS Card on the spot by presenting just a photo ID and proof of residence.

Vaccination Card

If you already have a vaccination card, bring it so that healthcare professionals can record the new vaccines administered and check which ones you have already received. If you don’t have a vaccination card, the health post will issue a new one.
